'Lullaby' quest walkthrough in Valor Mortis

How to help the crying baby in Chapter 3

To complete the "Lullaby" quest in Valor Mortis, you must find a way to soothe a crying baby's ghost. This Chapter 3 side quest involves some backtracking, which makes it extra hard to find the key item. But although this task is tricky and unsettling, the rewards are sweet.

Here's how to help the baby and complete the "Lullaby" side quest in Valor Mortis.

How to start 'Lullaby' in Valor Mortis

You'll encounter the Valor Mortis "Lullaby" side quest halfway through Chapter 3. Once you've looped around the Fields Lantern three times (where you may have previously completed "The Scarecrow"), and killed the Volunteer in front of the wagon, you will reach the Marketplace Lantern. From there, turn left toward the river, then enter the house on your left.

Investigate the crib in the first room to start the "Lullaby" side quest. Your task is to appease the baby's restless spirit.

While you're still in the baby's house, exit through the back door and defeat the two civilian zombies in the backyard. Pick up the Weathered Key on the ground behind them. With the key in hand, head back to the Marketplace Lantern, then pass through the wagon and go right.

If the Volunteer has respawned, attack him from inside the wagon, so he'll have a hard time hitting you. If you'd rather avoid him altogether, you can also teleport to the Fields Lantern and follow the path through the hayfields.

On the other side of this hamlet, jump across the platforms to reach the opposite side of the river. Now that you've got the Weathered Key, you can enter the house.

Collect the toy, then go back to the crib with the crying baby's ghost. Place the toy in the crib to complete the "Lullaby" quest in Valor Mortis and receive 1,500 catalysts plus the Tomorrow's Promise amber.
