3 Essential Remedy Games To Play After Control Resonant
Once you're done cleaning up Manhattan, dive into these games next
If you've been playing Control Resonant nonstop since it launched, there's a good chance you're nearing the end. That's always a bittersweet feeling in a game by developer Remedy Entertainment, because it comes with the knowledge that you won't get to play something like it for a while. Love it or hate it, Control Resonant is a wholly unique action RPG that's hard to follow.
Thankfully, there's a whole backlog of Remedy games to try if you've only ever dipped into the world of Control. Some of those games even tie into Control directly thanks to the nature of Remedy's own interconnected universe, which links seemingly disparate games together. Whether you're looking for more FBC lore or just want another brainy action game with paranormal vibes, here are three Remedy games that could feed your appetite in different ways.
1 Alan Wake 2
Where to play: PS5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X
The great thing about Remedy's games is that even though there are only two Control titles, you can still learn a lot more about that universe in other games. Case in point: 2023's Alan Wake 2. At a glance, the horror game about a novelist trying to write himself out of an alternate dimension doesn't seem very related to Control at all. In reality, it's very closely linked with that series, to the point where it includes direct references to the Federal Bureau of Control, especially in its The Lake House DLC. Even beyond containing some critical information that sets up Control Resonant, though, Alan Wake 2 is worth playing because it's Remedy at its creative peak. It's a strange and subversive horror game that features plenty of oddball surprises and the kind of cinematic storytelling that makes Remedy does better than any other studio working today.
2 Quantum Break
Where to play: Windows PC, Xbox One
Though Control Resonant is a direct sequel to Control, in many ways it feels like a continuation of ideas established in Quantum Break, the dark sheep of Remedy Games. Released in 2016, Quantum Break punctuated its third-person action gameplay with a full season of live-action TV (including stars Shawn Ashmore, Aiden Gillen, and the late Lance Reddick). While main character Jack Joyce primarily runs and guns, many of his powers — including the shield, blast, and rush abilities — feel like they'd fit naturally into the toolkit of Resonant protagonist Dylan Faden. Both games necessitate zipping around battlefields to survive. And while there are of course narrative and tonal distinctions (Resonant is matter-of-factly a more unsettling game, borderline horror at times), when you're in the thick of a fight, the connective tissue emerges. Very Remedy, if you think about it. —Ari Notis
3 FBC: Firebreak
Where to play: PS5, Windows PC, Xbox Series X
Okay, hear me out. As an ill-fated live-service shooter that struggled to get off the ground in 2025, FBC: Firebreak is a rare misfire for Remedy. It was the studio trying to dip into a trend that clearly wasn't in its wheelhouse, and that left players with a shallow co-op shooter that is no longer receiving updates. All that said, it's still a great bit of world-building that will only help you appreciate Control Resonant more. FBC: Firebreak puts you in the shoes of the Joe Schmoes of the Remedy universe: the paper-pushers and cleaners inside the FBC. That perspective not only puts you into a goofy office comedy where sticky note monsters roam free, but it also helps explain why shit hit the fan as bad as it did in The Oldest House. It paints the FBC as a madhouse, run by people who simply weren't competent enough to deal with the forces they were messing with. Don't expect much out of it as a multiplayer game with limited depth, but it might be the best one to revisit in light of Resonant just to understand exactly why the Manhattan situation got so out of control under the FBC's watch.
