Original Sketch of MrBeast's Logo to Be Auctioned Off With Estimated Value of $20,000
UPDATE: IGN has been informed that MrBeast is not involved with the sale of this pencil sketch, and we have amended our article to reflect this information.
The original pencil sketch of Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson’s famous logo is being auctioned off, and experts estimate that it could be worth over $20,000.
MrBeast is basically synonymous with YouTube these days, and it’s not hard to see why; he’s the single most-subscribed individual creator on the platform (520 million), famous for his over-the-top challenge videos, eye-popping cash prizes, and massive philanthropic projects.
Fourteen years after starting his channel in 2012, one of the ideas that has made him a household name is being put up for auction — the very first pencil sketch of his iconic blue tiger logo.
It adorns every bit of MrBeast’s branding, from his YouTube channel to his merchandise and even his very own chocolate bar line. Of course, this particular sketch doesn’t have any coloring, but shows the tiger (or, here, a leopard or spotted cat of some kind) as we know it today, minus the pink lightning bolt over its eye.
The 8.5-by-11-inch drawing is being put up for bidding as part of Heritage Auctions’ October 23 – 25 Fall Sports Catalog Auction. Experts estimate that, thanks to MrBeast’s mind-blowing net worth and prestige as a content creator, this simple sketch could be worth $20,000 or more.
Reps at Heritage Auctions explained that this logo was created around 2018 during a quick, 10-minute brainstorming session. Speaking with Wired, Donaldson explained how he first came up with the design, admitting that “even though that logo has probably been seen a hundred billion times, I actually put very little thought into it.”
“When I was a little kid I just kind of designed a tiger, and here we are,” he said. “My name, my logo, probably should have had more thought behind it, I’ll admit it.”
He also revealed that even he “doesn’t really know” what type of big cat the animal in his logo is supposed to be. “I guess it’s kind of like a tiger,” he told Wired, though the early concept art being sold at auction suggests that it was initially supposed to be a leopard or panther of some kind.
MrBeast has grown from his roots as a viral YouTuber into a fully-fledged game show host with his own series on Amazon’s Prime Video, Beast Games. It's got two seasons that are available to watch right now, and has been renewed for a third one. He has also co-authored a book with Alex Cross writer James Patterson called The Most Dangerous Games, which, as you can probably guess, follows 100 strangers who enter a contest for the chance of winning a billion dollars.
